Computer Associates joins predictive push

Computer Associates (CA) yesterday launched neural network technologies designed to underpin the vendor's drive into predictive enterprise systems management.

CA's Unicenter TNG marketing manager, Dr Kevin McIsaac said neural network agent, or "neugent", technologies delivered business applications capable of learning the characteristics of an enterprise system and using that information to predict the occurrence of problems.

The technologies are available as an add-on to Unicenter TNG 2.2 and are, according to McIsaac, expected to be extended to CA's other products, with the Jasmine object database scheduled to be first.

General availability-standard neugent technologies are about to be rolled out across two Australian enterprise sites: the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) and Compaq Services.

The technologies are available initially for NT 3.51 and 4.0 environments.
