IT Independence Ball tonight

The IT charity event of the year will be held tonight, May 17, at Sports Central, Fox Studios, Sydney.

The NSW Branch of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) in conjunction with Technical Aid to the Disabled (TAD), will host the 4th Independence Ball, with ACS expecting more than 350 people.

The Independence Ball 2001, Cocktail Style is a fundraising event aimed at IT organisations, professionals and supporters.

All proceeds raised on the night will be donated to TAD, and will go towards improving the lives of many disabled people, via the application of technology.

The Independence Ball will be a fun-filled event featuring the Enormous Horns band, and celebrity MC Robbie McGregor (SBS announcer and announcer for the Olympic and Paralympic Games closing ceremonies).

It will include pre-dinner drinks, cocktail-style food with beverages, a silent auction, live auction and unlimited rides and games.

Last year's ball raised some $32,000, and the goal this year is $40,000.
