David Higgins has been hired as WatchGuard Technologies’ new Australian and New Zealand country manager following the departure of Pat Devlin in July 2014.

Devlin left WatchGuard Technologies after two years for a role as Ruckus Wireless’ A/NZ and Pacific Islands managing director.

Based in Sydney, Higgins will be responsible for managing the security vendor’s market presence in A/NZ, looking for new revenue opportunities and managing customer relationships.

Prior to joining the vendor, he worked at Trend Micro as a business development and channels director for two years. Before this, he was director of sales at Sophos for seven years.

According to WatchGuard Technologies Asia Pacific vice president Scott Robertson, Higgin’s experience will be a “major asset”.

“His proficiency in driving sales and developing business channels for sales organisations will greatly enhance the business strategies we are implementing as IT security becomes a critical factor in the success of our customers,” said Robertson in a statement.
