Australian Information Industry Association appoints new CEO

Rob Fitzpatrick will step into the chief executive role at the Australian Information Industry Association from 1 February, the AIIA announced today.

Fitzpatrick replaces Suzanne Campbell, who has served as AIIA CEO for almost half a decade.

Fitzpatrick was formerly director, infrastructure, transport and logistics at NICTA (which [[artnid: 592481|last year merged with the CSIRO’s digital productivity team to become Data61]]).

The AIIA employed Russell Reynolds Associates to help it search for a new chief executive to replace Campbell.

“We wanted someone capable of building on the strong foundations of the AIIA, as laid out by Suzanne and her team,” said Kee Wong, chair of the AIIA’s board.

“It was Mr Fitzpatrick’s unique combination of national and international technology experience across a 20-year period along with his track record working with member-based organisations that makes him the ideal candidate to lead the AIIA into the future.”

“I have been proud to lead the AIIA over the past four and half years as Australia navigated its path to a new economy based on innovation and technology,” Campbell said

“The AIIA is a vitally important association as our members are helping Australia embrace its digital leadership capabilities, both locally and internationally.

“I wish Rob every possible success as he leads the AIIA into its next phase and I want to personally thank our members and my fantastic team who all work so hard to make the AIIA what it is.”
