Advocacy group StartupAUS has appointed Alex McCauley as its new CEO. McCauley replaces CEO Peter Bradd, who will continue as StartupAUS chairperson.
Bradd was appointed CEO in June last year.
McCauley’s new role will be effective as of 19 February.
The new CEO was previously the organisation’s head of strategy and advocacy.
StartupAUS plans this year to release the “most ambitious” edition of its Crossroads report, McCauley said in a statement.
It will be the third edition of Crossroads, which assesses the state of Australia’s startup ecosystem.
“We’re currently hard at work gathering examples of best practice policy from around the world in order to help Australia join the elite ranks of startup ecosystems in the US, Israel, the UK, and elsewhere,” McCauley said in a statement.
“There is a political and economic imperative to ensure we take full advantage of the vast opportunities presented by emerging technology and StartupAUS will be at the forefront of those efforts.”
The government’s ’innovation agenda’, released last year, featured a number of startup-focussed initiatives, including tax offsets partners in early stage venture capital limited partnerships and changes to employee share schemes.
