• Black box recorders reinvented to live-stream data

  ​Two major manufacturers of airplane flight recorders – commonly known as black box recorders, despite the fact they are usually orange – are partnering to reinvent the device to live-stream data.

The event was also a prelude to next week's CE Week in New York, in which we'll see even more gadgets and gizmos.

• AT&T eyes LTE network for in-flight use by passengers, pilots and crews

  AT&T plans to launch an LTE in-flight connection service by late 2015 for airlines and passengers that will be available for fast passenger Wi-Fi as well as real-time cockpit and maintenance communications.
