Nearly 40 per cent of ‘Gen Y’ consumers use digital means to make everyday purchases, a survey commissioned by the bank has found.
Commonwealth Bank of Australia currently only offers tap and pay Android phone payments through its own digital wallet app.
Customers can now use the mobile payments platform to make contactless in-store purchases using an ANZ Visa debit or credit card or ANZ American Express card. The bank said Mastercard cards were expected to “follow quickly”.
It's the biggest week in payment technology since Apple Pay was introduced last year, and the changes could have a long-term impact on how you buy goods and services in stores.
