Finnish vendor enters English-language Linux fray

SOT Finnish Software Engineering yesterday announced that it is readying for release a beta version of its first English-language edition of the open-source Linux operating system.

Free CD-ROM disks featuring the English-language beta version, called Best Linux T-1, will shortly be sent out to registered beta testers, the company said in a statement.

Interested users can fill in the registration form at the company's Best Linux Web site at http://www.bestlinux.net/. The test period will start in December, SOT said.

Founded in 1991, SOT is based in Tampere, Finland, the home country of Linux and its creator Linus Torvalds. SOT has already released Best Linux in both Finnish and Swedish-language versions, and the company boasts many of Finland's largest corporations as its customers. Among the many companies listed on SOT's client reference Web page are several units of Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia.
