CIO Magazine soars to top in Quadrant Readership study

MIS slips to second; The Australian and Computerworld remain in top fourCIO Magazine has blitzed the competition in the "1999 IT Publications Readership Survey" conducted annually among Australia's top IT executives by Quadrant Research Services.

Quadrant's independent survey interviewed 600 senior IT executives in companies with 100 or more employees. Their responses, weighted to reflect IT expenditure and company size, showed that CIO, published by IDG Communications, has become the most preferred title in Australia.

Perennial leader in the monthly category, MIS, fell to second for the first time since the surveys have been conducted. Australian Personal Computer was third in the monthly category, but more than 20 per cent lower than the two leaders.

Among newspapers with computer sections, The Australian's Tuesday edition outpolled the various Fairfax titles. Computerworld, also published by IDG, continued its unbroken leadership among IT-specific news titles.
