SCO, Compaq, Oracle drive reseller program

SCO will extend its reach of database solutions on UnixWare with yesterday's announcement of its partnership with Oracle and Compaq to offer packaged Internet database solutions through high-volume reseller channels and the Oracle-based developer community.

The program is aimed at the small business marketplace as well as the mid-market and corporate customers.

SCO and Oracle will penetrate the reseller channel with UnixWare 7 and Oracel8i on Compaq ProLiant servers. SCO has signed an agreement with Oracle to distribute Oracle 8i evaluation software with SCO products as the newly created Database Starter Kit available from SCO.

"Our operating systems are known to excel in database environments," said Richard Treadway, vice president of segment marketing and business development at SCO.

"With this new program, we can extend the reach of database solutions based on UnixWare 7 into enterprises of all sizes through a trained and certified network of resellers," said Treadway.

The collaboration between SCO, Oracle and Compaq will provide resellers with the products, knowledge, tools and support they need to sell solutions based on UnixWare and Oracle.

SCO and Oracle, with support from Compaq, have provided a comprehensive set of evaluation products and development tools at a significant discount to familiarise resellers with the products.
