IBM and I2 Technologies have announced a partnership to provide supply-chain customers with integrated tools and services.
The alliance will offer users a combination of supply-chain applications, research and consulting and will be especially directed at companies looking to develop and expand the online side of their operations.
IBM will be chiefly providing the consulting services, and Irving, Texas-based I2 Technologies will deliver the supply-chain planning applications, including its Rhythm suite technology.
While customers could previously purchase I2 applications and IBM services separately, the partnership will mean a tighter fit and faster implementation, said John Wilson, director of business development at IBM's supply-chain management division.
Delta Faucet Co. in Indianapolis has already felt the benefits of the alliance, said Steve McFarland, the company's chief financial officer. The combination of I2's application functionality with IBM's capabilities "from business consulting to systems integration" will greatly assist Delta Faucet with its future e-business plans, McFarland said.
