Oracle, ConvergeNet further application hosting

Oracle has taken another step forward in the roll-out of its Internet-based application hosting services by demonstrating the product with a San Jose partner.

Ray Lane, Oracle's president and chief operating officer, appeared at the launch of ConvergeNet Technologies's Internet application hosting service, which uses Oracle's BusinessOnline technology. ConvergeNet will announce customers and be ready for operations by the end of the year, said Dick Watts, the company's chief executive officer.

ConvergeNet is one of the first companies to link into Oracle's new applications-hosting service, which will allow companies to focus on their core businesses while their complex business applications are managed by professionals, Lane said.

Oracle announced BusinessOnLine in January.
