The Australia Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has been called in to arbitrate on several telecommunications access disputes.
Telstra notified the ACCC of an access dispute with AAPT. The dispute relates to charges paid by Telstra to AAPT for domestic PSTN terminating access services, to enable the termination of local calls form Telstra's network to ISPS connected to AAPT's network.
Cable & Wireless Optus has also entered into two disputes with Telstra. The disputes relate to the terms and conditions on which Telstra proposes to supply CWO with domestic PSTN originating and terminating access services.
Meanwhile, Telstra has announced Bob Mansfield will assume his position as Chairman on January 1, 2000. Current Chairman, David Hoare will step down on December, 31, 1999.
