Cisco Network News coming to station near you

Ratings season began last week and it seems Cisco Systems wants to be in the running for the top breakfast entertainment program.

Yesterday morning 1700 people throughout Australia tuned into Cisco Systems skycast of Cisco Network News, the networking giant's chat show on Cisco and the networking industry.

Broadcast live from Sky Channel studios in Frenchs Forest several times a year, Cisco Network News is an hour-long, interactive program that gives customers an update on Cisco's products, strategies and key executives.

Cisco stars donned TV makeup and memorised their lines (or read the teleprompter) in a Good Morning Australia-style, infotainment program.

Sitting in the hot seat for yesterday's show was marketing manager, Anne Strachan who had the job of interviewing guests including Asia Pacific vice president, Richard Freemantle, and systems engineer, Mick Regan.

Freemantle gave viewers an insight into his career in IT and networking trends in Australia and Europe. Regan discussed the future of IP telephony and Cisco's communications network.

Other key highlights of the program included a video screening extract from Cisco's Connections '99 conference in the US and an update on Cisco's switching products.

However, disappointing for viewers was the marked absence of high-profile Australian managing director, Gary Jackson.
