Com Tech chases lucrative Government contracts

Com Tech has announced the formation of a new Canberra-based company, Com Tech Integration Services (CTIS), to tackle the lucrative government outsourcing business.

Com Tech Communications agreed to a Canberra management buyout proposal in which CTIS will be 51 per cent controlled by local Canberra staff and 49 per cent by Com Tech Communications.

The new company is designed to operate as a separate company, but will leverage Com Tech Communications staff and facilities, paying and annual license fee for the Com Tech name.

Tony Whigham, managing director of CTIS, said the company is positioning itself as a small medium enterprise (SME) partner for upcoming Government outsourcing tenders.

Com Tech reports the Office of Asset Sales and IT Outsourcing (OASITO) was consulted during the CTIS planning process in relation to the Industry Development Framework. It also worked with legal and financial advisers to ensure CTIS would qualify as a SME.

Other key CTIS staff include sales director Michael Gration, technical director Joel Morosi, while former senior public servant, Noel Tanzer AC, will sit on CTIS' board of directors.

David Shein, Com Tech Communications managing director said existing Com Tech Canberra staff will be employed by the new company, with additional staff to be employed as needed. "Com Tech places great value in attracting and retaining its staff and this became a major consideration in accepting the buyout proposal," Shein said.
