Y2K glitches bug Microsoft

Microsoft has scanned all its product lines for year 2000 glitches and found several that will need what the company calls "minor" updates.

The company said it found two software products, Word 5.0 for DOS and Access 2.0, that can't be updated to accommodate the year 2000 and thus are flawed for use after December 31, 1999. However, it said its operating systems -- including Windows 3.11, Windows 95 and Windows NT -- are either free from any millennium bug glitches or had problems that were easily fixed.

"Most of our products are doing proper date handling," said Microsoft's year 2000 strategy manager, Jason Matusow, in a news conference. The updates that will be required for some products "are minor", Matusow said, and "not threats to the core stability of the operating system".
