Training: Familiarising with Unix fundamentals

Hewlett-Packard (HP) offers a course designed for customers who need an introduction to and familiarity with the Unix operating system and its related facilities.

This course is the foundation and prerequisite for most other HP-Unix courses, and also includes the fundamentals of shell programming.

There are no prerequisites for the student; however, general computer literacy and familiarity with a keyboard is expected. The five-day course is delivered by an instructor and additional hands-on laboratory sessions.

According to the company, the benefits of the course include using a computer running Unix; helping students prepare for the entire curriculum of system administration and software development courses; using shell programming to automate tasks; and saving time by enabling them to customise systems.
