RSA appoints Moore as VP

Former Hewlett-Packard sales manager and business development director for Compaq customer support Sebastian Moore has been appointed as vice president of RSA Security Asia Pacific.

RSA's previous local VP Richard Turner has been promoted to VP of worldwide channels, based in the US. Commenting on his new role, Moore described himself as a survivor.

"The fact that I have already survived the largest merger in history (Hewlett-Packard and Compaq – 3/5/2002) is more than just luck," he said. Moore relocated from Singapore as a channel manager with HP holding the position of enterprise sales manager in Australia for 11 years.

Previous to his position at HP Moore was business development for Compaq customer support (Asia Pacific).

Moore said as part of his new role he hopes to enable corporations that already use RSA products to deploy further security measures.

"There are a number of corporations that have already deployed authentication systems but are not using all the functions the system can offer," he said.

"Currently in the marketplace there are a lot of discussions around phishing and people specifically want additional security in identity management and access. One of the major goals this year will also be to turn our attention to the consumer market as the need for strong authentication becomes paramount."

RSA Security announced in February it is working with Microsoft to deliver a secure identification system for Windows users to provide a one-time password upon login that is then directed to RSA ACE/Server software.

The system will be released around September for Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 operating systems and will be available directly from RSA Security.
