IP telephony finds favour in middle market

Manchester Unity and Mission Australia have just inked contracts for IP telephony networks and unified communications, which is part of a broader trend to the adoption of IP by local, mid-sized companies.

The contracts are for complete communication solutions comprising IP telephony networks and communications applications along with design, project management, deployment, training and ongoing support.

Local uptake of IP telephony by mid-sized businesses has increased in the last six months, according to Integ, which won both contracts.

Ian Poole, Integ CEO, said the Manchester Unity deal followed the implementation of a new CRM system.

Manchester Unity CIO David Musgrave said IP telephony was the only technology that had the associated applications that enabled staff to maximize the CRM system.

"We knew IP telephony was the right technology for us. We were moving to a new site, so infrastructure savings were an important consideration," Musgrave said.

"However, we felt that migrating to IP is a strategic decision that adds value to our business because the unified communications applications that Integ provide ensure our staff have complete access to CRM data, wherever they are."

Mission Australia selected IP telephony for its call centre and national service desk which supports more than 2500 users.
