AT&T adds 24 staff to meet growing demand

AT&T has appointed 24 new staff in Australia to accommodate significant growth in the past year.

Four staff will be joining AT&T's sales and global account management teams in Sydney and Melbourne, while another 20 have recently joined AT&T's Asia Pacific regional service delivery team based in Sydney.

AT&T A/NZ managing director Jeyan Jeevaratnam claims the company is winning market share from competitors in a relatively mature local market. "In the past three years, AT&T has made significant investments in Australia to build a state-of-the-art MPLS network that includes six nodes and an Internet data centre (IDC) in Sydney," Jeevaratnam said.

"We have been growing our retail revenue at over three times the market average, in fact, excluding Japan, Australia is now AT&T's number-one revenue generator in the Asia-Pacific region."

AT&T Asia Pacific director for service delivery Dominic DeFina added that the company has employed an additional 20 implementation managers and customer network engineers based in Sydney along with the roll-out of AT&T's Labs global ordering, provisioning and project management tools.

"There is an initiative within AT&T to ensure that globally we are driving to shorter lead times for the delivery and implementation of our services to customers, especially here in the Asia-Pacific, and that we provide a fully consistent process and common project management approach to how we deploy customer networks across the globe," De Fina said.
