Perot offers infrastructure services from India

Perot Systems offers infrastructure services from India where one third of its worldwide staff will be based.

Perot Systems announced Tuesday that it is offering infrastructure services to its customers worldwide from its Indian centers in Noida and Bangalore. The company also announced that its staff in India would make up one-third of the company's staff worldwide in the next several months.

The Indian infrastructure team has already begun providing a wide range of IT infrastructure capabilities to customers around the world in a 24-hour model that makes the most of resources in every region, the company said.

Perot Systems' infrastructure team in India is likely to grow rapidly over the coming year as customers increasingly seek out companies with global delivery capabilities, the company said, but it did not disclose the number of staff it had hired for infrastructure services.

Perot Systems of Plano, Texas, uses India as a base for providing business process outsourcing services and a variety of IT services including application services to its clients. The company has about 6,000 staff in India, spread over its operations in Chennai, Noida, and Bangalore, and expects that its staff in India will constitute about one-third of the company's staff worldwide over the next several months.

The company has grown in India both organically and through acquisitions. In 2003, Perot Systems bought up the share of its Indian partner, HCL Technologies, in their joint venture HCL Perot Systems in Noida near Delhi. In the same year it also acquired Vision Healthsource India, a Chennai-based provider of billing and claims solutions for health care service providers in the U.S. Both companies have been integrated into the operations of Perot Systems in India.

During a visit to India earlier this year, Ross Perot Jr., the company's chairman, said that Perot Systems is planning acquisitions in India, Eastern Europe, Russia, China, and Mexico. "We are a global business, and to grow our global footprint, we are going all over the world," Perot told reporters in Bangalore in March. "We need added capacity worldwide," he added.
