Systems management vendor LANDesk Software is expanding into business process management (BPM) by acquiring the assets of NewRoad Software for an undisclosed sum, LANDesk announced on Wednesday.
NewRoad, based in Florida, makes the Autobahn BPM products, which help companies develop and manage business processes and workflows. The software uses the .Net framework, Microsoft's platform for Web-based applications, according to NewRoad's Web site.
LANDesk, in Salt Lake City, Utah, will offer the NewRoad technologies both on a standalone basis and as add-ons to its systems and security management products, it said. Existing NewRoad customers will now be supported by LANDesk's customer support organization.
Autobahn's software is suitable for industries where business processes need to be updated frequently, including the financial services, insurance, health care and manufacturing sectors, LANDesk said.
LANDesk's products include its Security Suite software, for managing patches, controlling spyware and blocking execution of malicious applications.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
