Acer still number three in Australia

PC vendor Acer claims it has processed $500 million worth of sales since launching an e-commerce platform four years ago.

But if the sales orders look impressive, the savings to customers are even better, according to Acer e-business director Des Paroz.

Paroz said by using the e-commerce platform, end users, channel partners and distributors save at least $50 per order.

"That adds up to a total saving of $5 million over the past four years of operation," Paroz said.

"This record amount reinforces that our focus on developing industry leading eCommerce initiatives for the past several years has been the right step for Acer.

"It (the eCommerce platform) will continue to be the cornerstone of our strategic vision and one of the main tools that will propel us to be the number-one PC vendor in 2007."

Acer claims it ranks as the number three PC vendor in Australia. The Acer Partner eCommerce (APeC) for channel partners was developed in 2001.

AcerLink, the online portal for Acer distributors and dealers, was launched in October 2003.
