Fuji Xerox inks multimillion dollar print deal

Fuji Xerox Global Services (FXGS) today announced a new five-year, $4.8 million outsourcing agreement with EDS.

Under the deal, which ends in 2010, EDS will reduce its 324 devices from multiple vendors to 75 managed by FXGS.

The deal follows an announcement in March that Xerox will partner with EDS as part of the latter's Agility Alliance.

Under the contract, FXGS will provide Managed Output Services (MOS) for all document production requirements at EDS.

Fuji Xerox said it will create an optimal print infrastructure for EDS by managing all devices, providing detailed device utilization analysis and reporting as well as integrating helpdesk support.

The company will also replace EDS' existing print equipment with new technology to output documents, most of which will be multifunction (print, copy, scan, fax) devices.

As part of the agreement FXGS will establish a print centre for EDS for all high-volume document requirements.

In a statement, Fuji Xerox said EDS will reduce print costs by up to 26 per cent.
