Systems integrator branches into training

Systems integrators Global Data and Global Storage have launched a new training arm with eight courses to be offered to customers and channel partners over the next year.

The initial eight courses will be structured around offerings from CommVault, WatchGuard and VMWare, which are partners of the integrators, and will focus primarily on educating and equipping customers to handle the daily management of their IT production environment.

The training programs will be introduced in phases with the first two - Commvault administrator and Watchguard administrator - available this month; two new courses will be offered each quarter.

Spokesperson Dawn D'Cotta said the training arm will extend the company's professional services expertise for its range of business solutions. The company hopes to double the size of its training capabilities next year.

"This added service will be offered to our end users. Our channel partners are welcome to participate as we do keep them posted on our company developments on an on-going basis," she said.

"The training arena is definitely an untapped market by many and Global Data and Global Storage are well equipped to penetrate this market space."

Training will be offered in-house by the integrtors' certified trainers.

Commvault administrator training is a two-day course that aims to provide individuals with the skill sets necessary to manage and administer an enterprise back-up and recovery environment. There are nine modules that include an overview of Commvault QiNetix, data security, data storage management and data recovery.

The Watchguard administrator training is a one-day course, which focuses on the design and implementation of a corporate security policy using the Watchguard Firebox system. There are seven modules which include an overview, VPN configuration and best practice, logging and reporting tools and ongoing maintenance.

The Commvault administrator costs $2200 and the Watchguard administrator training costs $1200. Prices include all materials and lunch.

Global Data and Global Storage are Australian-based divisions of US parent company Source Technology. Each division has about 60 customers and 12 channel partners.
