KPMG appoints new divisional head

Financial services group KPMG has appointed Julie Fahey to head up its information, communications and entertainment (ICE) department in Australia.

Fahey, who was formerly CIO at General Motors Holden and deputy managing director at SAP, said: "With close to 30 years experience in the IT industry, in roles including consultancy, working for a software vendor and as a CIO, I feel I have a unique perspective on the needs of KPMG's clients in this sector," she said.

Her role will be to improve business transactions and margin-enhancing initiatives, assisting organizations to develop risk management and mitigation strategies while delivering appropriate levels of compliance and corporate governance.

"From my discussions with the senior executives in this sector, as their customer, their business partner and even as their competitor, I understand globalization and convergence continue to accelerate the pressure to achieve profitable growth through mergers, acquisitions, strategic partnerships and closer customer relationships. Pressures from our client's customers to deliver consistent service all over the world has created major internal challenges in the way they measure performance and organize their lines of business," she said.

Fahey will replace former ICE director Bruce Phillips, who will focus on his primary role as national managing partner of KPMG's national markets group. The group leads the firm's six lines of business including ICE, industrial markets, financial services, consumer markets, government and energy and natural resources.
