DEWR scoping for content management

The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) is inviting tenders to provide a software-based content management system to support and manage investigations into breaches of federal law and fraud within the various departments.

The closing date for the tender is August 18, 2006 and requires three key deliverables: information and intelligence management relating to alleged breaches, management of investigations and evidence management.

The successful tenderer will provide costing scenarios for data storage of 12, 20 and 40 terabytes split across two DEWR sites and must also provide archive and back-up models.

Documents stipulate the system must integrate with single sign-on using Windows and Active directory, comply with two-factor authentication and SQL Server and be compatible with the Windows Kerberos authentication system.

Request for tender documents obtained by Computerworld state the department has no estimates on the projected annual growth rate of data, nor the number of servers needed and as this is the first EDS (electronic data systems) project for the department, tenderers are also invited to outline the best scenario for the D2D2T (disk to disk to tape) exchange.

"There are now only 43 servers to be connected to the EDS at site A (primary) and only 13 servers to be connected to the EDS at site B (disaster recovery) via Fibre Channel," according to the RFT documents.

"The back-up window time is 6pm to 6am and the full back-up size is about 6TB, which is expected to be backed up each week and full back-up of 6TB done each Friday and an incremental backup of 1TB done every weekday.

"The department uses CommVault to back up data. Some critical data is backed up to disk first and a full backup is done once a week on Friday and incremental back-ups are done on weekdays."

The successful tenderer must have protected Australian government security clearance and all software must meet the functional requirements of the Australian Government Investigations Standards. For more information e-mail itprocurement@dewr.gov.au with reference ATM 06/07-0005.
