Lako offers all-in-one Internet

New website and hosting solution for small businesses and consumers

Melbourne-based distributor, Lako Pacific, has scored an agreement to carry Mr Site Internet-In-A-Box.

The product is a website and hosting solution for small businesses and consumers. It offers users the ability to set up a domain name, customise or use templates for Web design, a secure PayPal shopping cart, 20 email and web mail addresses as well as Mr Site support. It costs $109.95 for the first 12 months, followed by an ongoing $8.33 fee per month.

Lako national sales manager, Ben McDonald, said there was a demand for this type of simple solution in the local market.

"With the growth of the Internet, small businesses want a website. Some issues that arise from this are where to start, it's too expensive or it's just too hard," he said. "This product offers everything in a box and only takes 10 minutes to set up. Its self explanatory so there is no technical expertise required."

Lako will aim the product towards mass retailers such as Harvey Norman, Dick Smith Electronics, Myer and Harris Technology. In the New Year, the company would target the education market and look at doing some promotions with local ISPs, McDonald said. It could also bring on more broadband, PC and Mac resellers.

"Mac resellers will open up a new market for us," he said. "We are trying to get it out there before the Christmas period. After that, we will look at other areas where there is a lot of potential."
