NAB to roll out 30,000 new Eftpos terminals

IP-enabled terminals to reduce costs

The National Australia Bank will roll out some 30,000 Sagem Monetel EFT930 Eftpos terminals over the next year.

The wireless terminals support broadband, integrate GSM and GPRS to facilitate IP-enabled transactions, and use Sagem's Telium processing technology based on Arm9 RISC 32-bit processors.

NAB's general manager of transactional products, Peter Roeleven, said: "NAB chose to partner with Sagem for a number of reasons, such as their success in European markets, but most importantly they were able to provide us with the most suitable terminals".

Sagem's local customers include Customs for an automatic border processing system, the Australian Police Force for a national fingerprint identification system, and security vendor Seadan which offers biometric access control terminals.
