Developing knowledge to complement skills is the aim of the Australian Computer Society’s Certification program, information days that will be held throughout Australia next month.
The CMACS (Certified Member of the ACS) program aims to broaden the Australian ICT knowledge base.
“So much in IT is to do with skills acquisition, but we aim to give people the knowledge so that the skills they acquire can be applied more effectively,” certification program manager Gerald Murphy said.
Murphy said that IT lets itself down by concentrating on skills alone and the CMACS aims to fill that gap.
The CMACS is an industry based, Master level course of study and is global learning with an applied focus. The first information day will be held in Melbourne on 5 July.
It can be studied anywhere and commenced at any time throughout the year. Although it is open for all, there is a reduced rate for ACS members.
Subjects include IT trends, business, legal and ethical issues, e-business, e-learning, knowledge management, management and strategy for IS, project management and software development.
