Seminarian's video site a real Godsend

Searching for God knows what? Try GodTube

God was in Chris Wyatt's ear when he thought up his Christian video file sharing site. Well kind of. "I was sitting in class at Dallas Theological Seminary when I came up with the idea," said the student.

The result is Wyatt's heavenly response to YouTube, GodTube. And like YouTube which encourages users to broadcast themselves (as well as copyrighted material), GodTube's refrain is 'Broadcast Him'.

The site went live on January 5 this year, but still remains in beta. In that time it has racked up almost 6,000 video clips.

Visitors to the site will see a range of Christian related material ranging from sermons to rock songs about faith.

Wyatt said GodTube is targeted at both non-believers worldwide and those with an interest in Orthodox Christianity.

This interest has so far impressed Wyatt.

"Now, we are the most visited Christian Web site in the world, the largest online Christian community and the largest broadcaster, albeit on the Net, of Christian programming worldwide," he said.

"We broadcast the equivalent of 22 weeks of television programming in one day. We're growing 30 percent per week and we'll do over 1 million visitors in May."

Despite the time consumed by the site, Wyatt continues to study at the Seminary.
