Acronis looks for second distie to get into SMB

Acronis’ new general manager, Bill Taylor, says the storage vendor is seeking a second distributor

Storage management and disaster recovery firm, Acronis, is set to announce a second distributor ahead of a range of new products that will take it deeper in the corporate world.

Acronis set up shop in Australia last September and installed Queensland-based Manaccom as its sole distributor. Newly appointed general manager, Bill Taylor, said Manaccom had been focused on the home, SOHO and small retail space. With a new range of enterprise-focused products set to be released in the August timeframe, the company has been evaluating several distributors that will ultimately help push it into the SMB and corporate world.

"Manaccom has done a great job. Now we are looking for somebody to complement them," he said.

Taylor said the new distributor would be geared towards the Eastern seaboard, with strong expertise in the storage market. He said he hoped to make an announcement in the coming month.

Taylor joined Acronis in May. He came over from Symantec where he was responsible for its Veritas enterprise business. He is Acronis' first general manager, replacing Ian Tan who had come down from Asia to set up the business.
