D-Link hires business solutions manager

New appointment part of plans to grow partner sales in the business sector

Networking vendor, D-Link has hired Michael Bailey to head up its Business Solutions Group. The appointment is part of ongoing plans to ramp up its presence in the business sector.

He was previously the managing director of networking distributor, Bax IT. Managing director, Domenic Torre, said the new role coincided with the extension of its Premier Partner program to reach into more markets including commercial, government and education.

"Over the last 18 months, there has been a bit of a refocus internally onto our business-grade product. To be able to attack that market again, we have had to restructure internally with separate teams focusing on two respective markets - consumer and business," Torre said. "Michael's role is to put together strategies to attract partners and to service the commercial, government and education markets but on top of that he's also very much involved in the lead generation side of the business."

Torre said Bailey's plans include completely reviewing its go-to-market strategy. This would involve training and certification programs for partners.

"He will be working with our marketing department to ensure we are educating the market in our business-grade product and technologies, as well," he said. "There will be a component of certification programs that he will help push out to the market and train our partners on how to sell technologies and solutions as opposed to just physical product."

The Premier Partner program was launched in May in an effort to ramp up D-Link's SMB business.
