HAHT buys into channel management

Sell-side e-commerce vendor HAHT Commerce this week announced it has acquired channel management vendor iMediation together with content exchange vendor arcadiaOne, which iMediation purchased in November.

With the deal, HAHT gains inroads into the consumer products sector - where iMediation has customers including Hasbro, L'Oréal and Koninklijke Philips NV - and broadens its international customer base.

HAHT's existing Commerce Suite 7.0 delivers tools for demand chain management, a term that describes the integration of transactions between manufacturers, channel partners and customers. Demand chain management applications aim to give a supplier better visibility into what's going on in its direct and indirect channel partners' businesses, so suppliers can better coordinate their sales and supply-chain initiatives and deliver the right products to resellers, distributors and retailers at the right time.

HAHT's suite to date, however, has been heavy on the manufacturer side, which includes order management and catalog functions. From iMediation, HAHT gains tools to fill out its supplier functionality. For example, the iMediation software can help suppliers automatically and consistently distribute product and brand information to channel partners, and collect information about customer orders and buying behavior in return.

Under the terms of the agreement, HAHT will issue approximately 8.9 million shares for all iMediation's outstanding stock, inclusive of the stock from arcadiaOne.iMediation established an Australian office in November 2000.
