Eaton Powerware UPSs recalled for safety reasons

Eaton Powerware 3105 and 5110 devices considered faulty.

UPS provide Eaton has recalled some of its products due to safety concerns.

The product recall was issued last week and affects the Eaton Powerware 3105 and 5110 UPS systems.

"A crack in the socket backing plate can cause poor retention of the UPS outlet socket contacts and loss of earthing continuity to Class 1 equipment plugged into the UPS," reads the recall notice.

According to the notice, the affected models include: 31050350A, 31050500A, 31050700A, 51100350A, 51100500A, 51100700A, 51101000A and 51101500A.

It said the recall only applies to the above models sold in 2007 with serial numbers JA231A0000 - JA416A9999 and JZ231A0000 - JZ416A9999 inclusive. Units with the first two letters "JX" or "JY" are excluded from the recall.

Customers have been asked to stop using the affected products and return them to Eaton or their supplier for a free replacement product.
