Baltimore MD resigns

Baltimore Technologies MD for the Asia Pacific region John Palfreyman has resigned after eight years in the top job.

While Palfreyman said he is considering a few job offers and is committed to remaining in Australia, he is in no hurry to take up a new post and wants to get re-acquainted with his family.

Palfreyman has played a central role in the development of the security software vendor's dominance in the PKI 9public key infrastructure) market in Australia, particularly the Federal Government's Gatekeeper project.

However, the Dublin-based software vendor had a tough year in 2001 cutting 18 per cent of its global workforce, including 20 jobs in Australia.

Computerworld understands differing views about the best way forward for the company created tension when the company's global chief executive Bijan Khezri was in Australia last week.

Palfreyman said it was time to move on and the company is already searching for a replacement but he will stay on board for a couple of months to ensure the right successor is appointed.

His career in IT spans 17 years including six years as executive director of Security Domain and CEO of Zergo Asia Pacific.
