The NSW Government is trying to establish an IT hub in Sydney's West by relocating $45 million worth of IT projects.
By the end of the year, more than 60 IT professionals will be based in the Government's new IT Project Development Centre in Parramatta.
The projects include a $32 million licensing project to develop a new online system for the state's licensing services which is expected to generate taxpayer savings to the tune of $70 million.
Announcing the initiative, NSW Premier Bob Carr said more than 600,000 people renew various licences by post or over the counter each year, but the new system will enable all processing to be completed online.
The other $13.8 milllion project aims to streamline housing, health, crisis accommodation and counselling services.
Both projects are part of an e-government initiative which has seen 1500 state services move online.
Western Sydney is home to 1500 IT companies generating $2.7 billion a year in revenue.
