The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Wednesday announced it will not intervene with the proposed merger of Hewlett-Packard and Compaq.
ACCC Chairman, Professor Allan Fels, said its investigation into the deal, announced September last year, found the merger of the two PC giants would not substantially lessen competition in any market.
The approval from the ACCC follows the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and European Union's (EU) review of the merger earlier this year. Like the ACCC, the FTC and EU also found no reason to believe the merger would harm competition in any market.
