Logical enters managed IP telephony

It was one of the first integrators in Australia to become an IP telephony specialist partner with Cisco Systems in 1997. Five years on and the company is taking that experience a step further with an ambitious plan to offer enterprises a managed IP telephony service for a flat monthly fee.

Logical plans to offer a range of managed IP telephony services including network design, configuration and testing, security management, change management, vendor management and service provider capacity planning to enterprises on a per-seat basis.

Logical's managing director, Stuart Hendry, said the move into managed IP telephony services is a natural progression for the integrator. The company has rolled out a number of IP telephony sites across Australia and New Zealand based largely on Cisco's Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data (AVVID) platform.

Besides the premise of enabling enterprise customers to save on telecommunications costs and relieving pressure on customers' internal IT staff to support IP converged networks, Logical will provide a range of applications to its customers including unified messaging, intelligent call routing, video conferencing and streaming video.

Logical has been trialling the service for three months internally and Hendry said the company is "in discussions" with a number of potential pilot customers.
