CSC secures WA police IT contracts

Responsive support services in ERP a requirement

Western Australia Police has entered into two five-year IT service contracts with CSC for application support and consulting services.

The first contract will see CSC will provide SAP applications support services, including upgrade and maintenance work, for the organization’s resource management information system, an ERP application that manages business operations for WA Police.

The total estimated value of this contract is $15 million.

WA Police CIO Tony O’Donoghue said being a large organisation – in terms of workforce and geographical responsibility – requires responsive support services in its resource planning and project management.

“We believe CSC can provide a significant contribution to maintaining flexibility in meeting the needs of the community and enhancing the efficiencies of our policing systems,” he said.

The second agreement is the Western Australia Police project services panel contract, where CSC is one of two companies competing to provide infrastructure, applications development, systems integration and consultancy services.

The panel contract has an estimated maximum ceiling value of $120 million.

According to CSC, it will tailor a “flexible staffing model” specific to the requirements of WA Police, which has 162 stations, and it will use local providers, including NGIS, Agile Computing, Trilogy Resources and Dialog.
