Alcatel finds local partner for rural push

The Australian arm of Alcatel has joined forces with Integrated Asset Management and listed regional telco Min-Tech 8 to establish telecommunications centres in regional Australian communities. The group intends to identify specific needs of individual regions and deliver a range of data, e-commerce and voice communication facilities to meet those needs, explained Glen Wall, chairman of Min-Tech 8.

"Min-Tech 8 provides the network, Alcatel supplies the equipment, and IAM provides a structured funding package; together we are offering a full service regional telecommunications solution," Wall claimed.

"We will be giving regional Australia electronic access to services compatible to those available in the major cities".
