Ariba extends its Australian operations

Ariba, the US B2B e-commerce platform provider, has expanded its Australian operations by opening two new offices and appointing Allan Smith as CEO. Smith joined the company from Computer Associates, where he had held a variety of positions in his 14 year tenure. After a term as managing director of CA's Australia and NZ operation he was appointed senior vice president of sales, support and customer relationship management for California.

Coinciding with Smith's arrival was the company's decision to open larger offices in Melbourne and Sydney. Ariba now has a staff of 27 people in Australia.

In the US Ariba has just created the position of executive vice president of worldwide sales, which it has filled with former IBMer James Steele. His most recent position was vice president of the North America western region.
