Online solutions developer Headstrong - which started life as James Martin & Co -- has appointed Colin Flynn as managing director of its Australian operations. Flynn joined Headstrong from KPMG, where he was chairman of the firm's financial sector practice and partner in charge of financial sector consulting.

Dr Ian Reinecke has been appointed chairman of DSTC, a joint venture company supported by the Commonwealth Government's Co-operative Research Centres Program to develop enterprise-distributed systems. Reinecke was most recently CIO of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and will be expected to focus on securing investment in DSTC as it commercialises some of its developments. He replaces former Queensland premier Wayne Goss, who has been appointed managing director of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.

Nigel Hennessy has been appointed CEO of Combined Communications Network, the Australian developer of automated taxi dispatch services. Hennessy was previously managing director of Simoco Pacific, which was formerly known as Philips Mobile. Combined's previous CEO left the company when it listed last September and Dr David Vu, an external director, had been acting CEO since that time.
