Melbourne-based boutique electronics company Kogan Technologies has reduced the price of its 10-inch Agora Netbook range with the basic model now $399, down from $499.
The Agora Netbook has a 1.6GHz processor, 1GB RAM, uses the the Linux-based gOS operating system and weighs only 1.2kg.
Also decreasing in price is the Agora Netbook PRO which started at $539 but now sells for $439.
The pro model includes 2GB of memory, Bluetooth and a six-cell battery.
Kogan claims to be the first company in Australia to offer a 10-inch netbook for less than $400.
The Agora range was launched back in March and both netbooks come with free gOS software pre-loaded.
Kogan Technologies founder Ruslan Kogan said: “We are huge believers in cloud computing and open source software. The reasons are simple: open source software is usually faster, better and has more features.”
Known for its timely marketing campaigns – one offering a television for the value of the federal government’s stimulus payment of $900 known as the 'KEVIN37 High Definition Stimulus' – Kogan is pitching the price reductions of the Agora Netbook range as “the perfect present for dad” this Father’s Day.
