NetComm turns to Uecomm for bandwidth

As it busily makes the transition from modem manufacturer to broadband carrier, NetComm has signed up for the supply of bandwidth services from Victorian carrier Uecomm for use in a pilot project on the north side of Sydney.

Rob Gillan, CTO of NetComm, said the high-speed interconnection services will allow NetComm to provide full broadband connectivity to all metropolitan areas and not just to CBDs.

Noting that Uecomm had extended its fibre into the "local population", he claimed the additional bandwidth will allow the company to provide high-speed broadband services to the SME market. "NetComm's customers can truly start getting the broadband experience they've been waiting for," he claimed.

NetComm's broadband network infrastructure will offer a full suite of voice, video, and data services designed for business customers, Gillan said. Services offerings will include full telephony, virtual PABX, ISDN replacement, virtual private networks, and Web hosting. "NetComm is concentrating on providing a package of very fast, very functional voice and data services into business premises and with our DSL network and the existing copper we are able to that," Gillan explained.
