Samsung Electronics Australia has partnered with Japanese industrial-designer, Naoto Fukasawa, to launch a new mini notebook, the N310.
The netbook’s minimalist style is very much in keeping with the sensibilities of the award-winning international designer. It has a frameless screen, pebble design keyboard and rubberised body in a light form factor of just 1.23kg.
“The Samsung N310 is a very welcome addition to our notebook range in Australia and a unique looking product we think consumers will love,” said Emmanuele Silanesu, IT national product and marketing manager with Samsung Australia.
The notebook has already begun selling at the Good Guys and has a recommended retail price of $799. The N310 features ergonomic design with optimised 17.6mm key spacing. It’s not a full-sized keyboard — but at 93 per cent of a full desktop keyboard, Samsung claims users will experience less wrist strain, fewer errors and faster typing speeds than other mini laptops.
The vendor claims it has a battery life of up to five hours, or 11 hours with an optional extended six cell battery.
The 10.1-inch design means the notebook is small enough to carry in a handbag or backpack and also includes an internal microphone, headphone-out connection and an integrated 1.3 megapixel digital motion camera as well as a 3-in-1 memory card reader, three built-in USB ports and optional Bluetooth 2.0+ Enhanced Data Rate.
