Roche Pharmaceuticals has launched an intranet that was built on the Allaire Spectra platform by Sydney Internet group Daemon Internet Consultants. The Roche Now intranet will be used to deliver communications, information, support and training to all of Roche's Australian staff, a Daemon spokesman explained. Daemon enhanced the Spectra platform by building an extension that provides site management tools and distributed content management facilities through a browser interface.
Listed human resources management software developer Concept Systems International has won a contract to provide people management software and services to National Capital District Commission, which is the largest local government in Papua New Guinea. The $A400,000 deal covers a human resource and payroll system and is expected to lead to further orders in the government and corporate sectors in Papua New Guinea, according to Concept's managing director Greg Phillips.
Third Rail -- a Western Australian mining company that turned into a wireless telecommunications company and late last year won control of radio spectrum that had been granted to the New Hampshire National Guard (The Rust Report, December 7, 2000) -- has agreed to provide wireless services to one of the 10 counties of New Hampshire. The contract requires Third Rail to provide a high-speed wireless Internet connection to two county campuses each with multiple buildings. "We are very excited about the potential of the National Guard contract not only from a New Hampshire perspective but also because of the opportunity it offers to substantially grow the business by providing services in other states," explained Wayne Loxton, managing director of Third Rail.
