The Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) is to roll out phase two of its environmental sustainability web portal LivingGreener.gov.au.
According to tender documents, the portal is part of a suite of Government measures aimed at helping Australians overcome barriers to making their homes and activities more environmentally sustainable.
“The portal aims to provide information for living greener that is trusted and readily understood; engage and empower Australians to improve their efficiency in energy, water, waste and transport; improved access to government programs and information; encourage greater uptake of government assistance; and support Australian Government ‘household behaviour change programs’”, according to the documents.
Phase one of the web portal provided links to Federal Government websites and websites sponsored by the Australian Government.
Phase two of the site is underway and is focused on adding content, extending the target audience groups, adding functionality and linking to state, territory and local government web sites.
The next 18 months is expected to see several releases of new content about relevant state and territory government assistance, content to assist helps schools and small businesses and location specific information filtering.
Additional updates to the site are to include content about relevant local government assistance and new site functionality such as Web 2.0, collaboration and end-user stories.
