Telstra opens Canberra SOC

Will offer ASIO T4 accredited services

Telstra is to begin providing managed security services to enterprise and government customers through the launch of a new ASIO T4 accredited Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Canberra.

The 1300 square metre SOC will specialise in the secure management of Telstra’s core infrastructure alongside the networks Telstra manages for a range of Enterprise and Government customers.

The SOC, with an initial staff of 40, scalable up to 100, aims to provide customers with an end-to-end network environment view in order to better prepare against and isolate security incidents.

According to Telstra Enterprise and Government group managing director Nerida Caesar, there was growing demand among enterprise and government customers for managed security services.

Frost and Sullivan predicts the Australian market for network security to grow by 4.3 per cent per year to become a $227 million by market by 2015.

According to Telstra, the SOC will be fully integrated with the telcos existing network monitoring facilities.

The company has a Global Operations Centre (GOC) in Melbourne and Managed Network Operations Centre (MNOC) in Sydney which monitors over 1,100 corporate networks in Australia.
