Vic govt inks $5M spatial mapping deal

IT services company continues 15 year streak

The Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) has renewed a $5 million three-year deal for its state property mapping system with IT services company Logica.

Under the deal which has remained with Logica since 1995, the IT company will manage, store and supply data for the Vicmap Land Administration Themes system used by government, emergency services, private security firms, and developers.

Data for the mapping system is fed from sources including the Land Registry, Local Government, VicRoads and consulting surveyors.

Logica Australia government industry director Paul Sargeant said mapping data needed to be reliable whether it was used by emergency services or in finding a residential addresses.

"We’ve been working with the Victorian DSE now for 15 years and still continue to deliver,” Sargeant said in a statement.
